Burkina Faso - Mid-term evaluation of the National Health Development Plan (NHDP) 2001-2010

In the framework of the National Health Development Plan (NHDP) 2001-2010 and on behalf of the Health Ministry of the Burkina, one of our health economist carried out (in collaboration with experts specialised in Public Health) the Mid-term evaluation of the National Health Development Plan (NHDP) 2001-2010.

The NHDP, adopted in July 2001, is the operational translation of the National Health Policy (NHP) elaborated and adopted in September 2000. The evaluation took place in order to appreciate the present progress state of the NHDP implementation, to identify any difficulties, obstacles and opportunities in order to propose corrective measures aiming at accelerating the running process. The mid-term evaluation is totally part of the NHDP implementation.

Description and analysis of the public health and health care system organisation at their different levels and their respective place in the NHPD implementation by insisting on the hospitals role in this process
Appreciation of the progress state of the sectorial approach in the NHPD implementation process
Appreciation of the implication level of NGOs/associations and private sanitarian sub-sectors in the NHPD implementation
Appreciation of the planning, the implementation and follow-up/evaluation NHDP process included the budget, activity financing, control, by level required follow-up/operational supervision, annual review and reporting aspects)
Description and analysis of the health sector financing, among others the health budget. Related recommendations elaboration
Analysis at different levels of tendencies and performances recorded by the health system by using NHDP follow-up indicators
